On August 4th, 2021 Local 2294 representative, Chris Boles, spoke on Agenda Item F-5 wherein Commissioner Stacy White proffered a motion to direct staff to bring back to the BOCC a report on the possible establishment of a First Responders Cemetery. Hillsborough County Fire Fighters enthusiastically welcomes the idea and possibility of Hillsborough County first responders being recognized in this manner. Much like our military serve our nation, the firefighters, paramedics, and law enforcement officers of Hillsborough County serve as the guardians and caretakers of our local community. This honorable gesture and the foresight of Commissioner White to consider Hillsborough County’s first responders is greatly appreciated. Such an establishment would be an ongoing legacy of the Board and may very well be a first in the state of Florida.
